Golf

In my mind there are basically two types of golfers. Now....when I say two types....I recognize that tons of people play golf, and there are all different types of people who TRY to play the game.

Mabye they go once a year, or whatever. The point is the following....for regular golfers, there are two basic types.

Firstly....there's the devout amateur. Golfing as often as they can....not with the ambition of really making it to an open or any other tournament, but with the hope of just being a good golfer. This is the person that plays at the private golf club...they have a set crew of people that play with them....and its just a sport this person loves.

The other golfer....is the work golfer. Now....this is the type of person who has maybe ONE aspect of their game that is solid (the drive....putting....something), but then just doesn't bring anything else to the game. They love to go out there and drink a few beers every time the beer cart comes along....by the 15th hole they are completely in the bag.....the course supervisors have already been over to give your group a warning for getting too loud....

Balls are getting sliced into the woods....the score suddenly doesn't matter other than for bragging right...and lets be honest....with 8 beers and a few sips of the flask, no one really cares about scores anymore....

now....there is one final type of golfer....i call them...the "bump on a log" golfer.

Doesn't drink.....thinks its fun to go out there even though they suck. they keep apologizing to the people they are with....laughing every time they mishit a ball. and everyone laughs along for the first 4 holes....and then they realize..."holy shit....this guy is actually awful.....this isn't going to get any better as we play on"

your group instantly regrets inviting you (but you are always so nice at the office....and they feel bad for you because your wife doesn't let you have any friends....at least that's what you told them...but suddenly it feels like they are starting to suspect that maybe you have no friends because you have a weird laugh and you don't drink..."

anyway.....I am going golfing next friday......wish me luck. I will be reporting my score, and beer count, back here after the game.
